For the second time in 16 days a Whitwell Mountain resident has been arrested for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine. On March 16, 2010 Sheriff’s Department Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence of Jimmy Dale Green aka Dobber which is located at 396 Worley Lane on Whitwell Mountain. Detective Chad Johnson obtained the search warrant after receiving information from the Whitwell Police Department that there was marijuana and stolen property in the home. Upon searching the residence Detectives found the marijuana, stolen property, along with chemicals and equipment which are used to manufacture methamphetamine. Mr. Green was taken into custody on the charges of Promotion of methamphetamine manufacture and Initiation of a process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine. On March 18, 2010 Mr. Green was released from the Marion County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond.
On April 01, 2010 Marion County Sheriff’s Department Detectives received information while conducting another investigation that Mr. Green was again going to be manufacturing methamphetamine. MCSD Detectives, Jasper Police Department Officers, TBI Agents, and 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force Agents then set up surveillance on a location where Mr. Green was going to be picking up some meth manufacturing chemicals. When officers attempted to stop Mr. Green he fled the location in a Pontiac Grand Prix nearly striking several officers. As officers attempted to stop Mr. Green they observed objects being thrown from the vehicle as it traveled southbound on Valley View Highway. Mr. Green eventually wrecked into a ditch at the intersection of Valley View Highway and Jones Crossing Road. After a brief foot chase into the woods officers took Mr. Green and his wife Heather Green into custody. Detectives then went and recovered the items which were thrown from the vehicle and discovered a duffel bag that contained a meth lab. Heather Green was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail and charged with Promotion of methamphetamine manufacture and Initiation of a process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Mrs. Green is still currently in jail on a $3,500 bond. Jimmy Green was taken into Federal Custody for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine. Mr. Green remains in federal custody where he has been detained without a bond.
Sheriff Burnett stated that this case is a good example of the partnership that the Sheriff’s Department has established with the Federal Government through Project Safe Neighborhoods. The Sheriff’s Department will continue to seek federal prosecution against repeat drug dealers and violent offenders in an effort to keep them off of the streets and out of our communities for as long as possible.
